1. Keep your shoulders down
2. Your arms should pump like a choo-choo train, NOT swing across your body
3. Head up, tummy pulled in
4. Land flat-footed, NOT heal/toe
5. Feet shouldn't come far off the ground, this isn't a sprint
6. No matter how tired you are, sprint the last part of your run and run through your 'finish line'
7. Always finish your run smiling, even if you aren't happy with that day's performance
8. Go with gravity, lengthen your stride when going downhill
9. Running shoes should be a full size larger than your normal shoes
10. Hip, knee and back pain can be the result of the wrong running shoe, go get fitted at professional running store
11. Running should be difficult and challenging, but it shouldn't hurt, if it does....stop
12. Do not drink wine (especially cheap boxed wine) the night before a run
13. Run quietly - if you can hear your foot smacking the ground, that's bad news
14. Have two pairs of running shoes; Your shoes will last longer when you give them a day or two to decompress and dry out b/w workouts, which is especially important if you rain in rain or snow.
15. Long runs are for distance NOT for time....Shorter runs are for improving time.
